Services

Get the right treatment for you. Naturally.

With so many types of treatment, you may not be sure what you need. No worries!

I take the time to understand who you are and what you’re looking for. I look at the whole picture. Then, using my knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine, I create a customized plan just for you.

Here’s how it works.

During your first visit of about 90 minutes, we’ll get to know each other. We’ll explore your health issues and develop a plan.

  • I’ll ask you questions about your diet, lifestyle, and medical history including medications and supplements.

  • I’ll also take your pulse and observe your tongue and palpate your abdomen, three principal diagnostic measures in Chinese medicine.

  • Then we'll discuss treatment options and I’ll answer your questions.

  • Ultimately, we’ll determine which treatment or combination of treatments are best for you. I’ll also give you an idea of how long treatment will last.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, at its core, is changing the way your nervous system communicates with your body by shifting it from a reactive, stressed and inflamed state to one that is more inclined to calmly respond, rest, digest and regulate itself. Very fine, single-use needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points where energy pools. By stimulating that point with the needle you can open a gate so the energy can flow again! Cool, huh!? The needles stay in between 10 – 45 minutes depending on the client and treatment goals.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine may be prescribed in addition to your acupuncture treatment, depending on your health concern. Each herbal formula is individualized to you and I always use the highest quality herbs. Three people may walk into the clinic with the exact same condition, but may leave with three totally different formulas!

Cupping

You can think of cupping like a reverse massage! During a session I’ll place pneumatic glass cups directly onto your skin to create a vacuum that pulls blood and toxins to the surface.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves burning a cone or stick of the therapeutic herb called Mugwort on the surface of your skin’s acupuncture points. The warmth then stimulates these points and improves your flow of energy. And no, it doesn’t hurt!

Tui Na (pronounced “Twee Nah”)

Tui na is a form of Asian body work that helps to relax the muscles and joints by stimulating and regulating the flow of energy. During a session I might use a combo of acupressure, kneading, rolling, and pinching as I target a specific muscle, group of muscles or tendons.

Gua Sha (pronounced “Gwah Shah”)

Gua sha is performed by scraping the skin firmly in long strokes with a solid massage tool — usually on the back, neck, arms, legs and face. After a session your skin will have less inflammation and more vitality.

Facial Rejuvenation

This treatment encourages collagen production to help your skin become fuller, naturally decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, dark spots, scarring, and skin looseness. A more natural solution than botox and fillers. You’ll look more youthful and feel refreshed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The needles used during acupuncture are very thin. You may have feelings of warmth, heaviness, slight tingling or some fleeting discomfort upon insertion, but most people don't feel them at all!

  • Chinese medicine is an ancient system of healing that aims to create balance within the body. It treats a number of issues and approaches treating ailments from a holistic perspective, rather than just individual symptoms.

  • Acupuncture works more with the muscles, promoting relaxation, increased microcirculation and decreased bodily inflammation, whereas chiropractic care involves the realignment of bone structures.

  • It’s common to receive six to eight treatments. However due to each individual's unique needs, the number of recommended sessions varies. It’s always my goal to give you the most effective care in the most efficient time frame. In my opinion, I wouldn’t be doing my job if you need to see me long-term!

  • Chinese medicine is a full system of medicine, which means I can treat anything! It’s different from Western or conventional medicine, because it takes a whole-body approach by understanding and looking for patterns and how various symptoms are connected. Using my experience as a labor and delivery nurse, I also combine the best aspects of Western medicine into my overall diagnosis, ensuring no leaf is left unturned!

  • Acupuncture is an alternative medicine, but more and more insurers cover the treatment for pain management. I recommend calling your insurer to see what they will cover. I can provide you with a superbill if needed.
